The Windham Natural Resources Conservation District helps individuals,
groups and communities conserve their land and water by providing
education, information, demonstrations and technical assistance.
Specific Technical Services are provided by the Agricultural Resources
Specialist/Basin Planner, Nutrient Management Consultant, Nutrient
Management Educator and the Land Treatment Planner.

Agricultural Resources Specialist |
|
The Agricultural Resources Specialist/Basin Planner provides
technical assistance for Agricultural Accepted Practices compliance;
well and drinking water testing and assessment of farm drinking water
and development of educational materials for farmers. Develops
management plans to address agricultural related water quality issues
within watersheds and provides educational programs to the public on farm and residential water quality topics.
The Agricultural Resource Specialist assists farmers in the
implementation of Accepted Agricultural Practices and other natural
resource programs. Services include technical assistance to farmers on
AAP compliance; Farm*A*Syst assessments of farm practices and water
testing of farm wells; assistance with AAP manure spreading exemption
requests; development of
educational and training materials for farmers, Districts and the
public; assistance to Districts in the development and implementation
of workshops and programs; assistance with watershed
planning, monitoring and organization; assistance to farmers on Best
Management Practices applications, and Large Farm Operation
applications.

Nutrient Management Educator |
|
The Nutrient Management Educator provides overall farm environmental
and waste management assessments; education about Accepted Agricultural
Practices, Medium Farm Regulations and general crop management research
and information.
|
|
|
The Land Treatment Planner works with the agricultural community to develop plans that control soil erosion and protect water quality by implementing land based conservation practices.
